Let your bot sign in to your accounts without seeing your passwords

Agents get stuck at login pages, and pasting your password into a chat is risky. With 1Password for Agents, your bot asks to use a saved login, you approve it on your phone, and 1Password types it in, so the bot never sees the password.

What the bot does

  1. It works on a task you gave it, like ordering groceries or checking an account, and reaches a sign-in page.
  2. Instead of asking you to paste a password, it sends a request to 1Password for that one login.
  3. You get an alert and approve (or refuse) that specific login.
  4. 1Password fills in the username, password and one-time code itself, so the bot can carry on without ever seeing them.
  5. You can see which logins each bot has used and disconnect it at any time.

What you end up with

A bot that can finish jobs behind a login without stopping for you each time, and without a copy of your password sitting in a chat history.

When you reach a sign-in page for [site], request the login from 1Password instead of asking me for the password. Only ask for the logins this task needs: [list the sites]. Never ask me to paste a password or a one-time code into the chat. Before you buy, send, delete or change any account setting after signing in, stop and ask me first.

Setup

  1. You need a 1Password Individual or Family account on 1Password.com (1Password says .eu and .ca accounts aren't supported yet). There's no extra charge for the agent feature.
  2. Make sure the logins your bot will need are saved in 1Password, not only in your browser. 1Password notes that agents can't use browser-saved passwords or passwords kept in notes.
  3. In your bot's app, connect 1Password (look for it in the bot's connections or integrations list) and sign in to 1Password when asked.
  4. Give your bot a small first job behind one login, and approve the request when your phone or 1Password app asks.
  5. Check the list of approved logins after a week and remove any your bot no longer needs.

Watch out

  • Approving a login gives the bot that whole account for the task. Approve only the sites the job needs, and keep banking and email logins for jobs where you're watching.
  • Banks are starting to notice agent activity in accounts, and Chase told Axios customers shouldn't give their usernames and passwords to anyone (reported by TechCrunch, Oct 22, 2026). Check your bank's rules before letting a bot sign in there.
  • Support depends on the agent: Grok Bot and Muse were rolling out first; Claude Duet, ChatGPT Work and dots were listed as coming soon on Oct 22, 2026.

What this costs to run

In a chat app it runs inside your plan. If you run it as a bot on an AI API, the bill depends on how often it runs and how much it reads.
