Let a bot answer your phone and take messages for you
Forward your calls to an agent with its own phone number. It picks up, says it's your AI assistant, talks to the caller, takes a message and sends you a short summary. People who use it say many spam callers simply hang up.

What the bot does
- Your agent gets its own phone number, and you forward your calls to it (all calls, or just the ones you miss).
- It answers, tells the caller it's your AI assistant, and asks who they are and what they need.
- It holds a normal conversation, takes a message, and can answer simple questions you've allowed, like when you're free.
- After each call it sends you a summary in the app, so you only call back the people who matter.
- Anything it isn't sure about, it leaves for you instead of promising something.
What you end up with
Fewer interruptions, no more unknown-number roulette, and a tidy list of who called and what they wanted.
Copy-paste prompt
Fill in the [brackets]. Then paste it into any tool below.
You answer calls I forward to you. Start every call with: "Hi, this is [my name]'s AI assistant. This call may be recorded." Ask who is calling and why. Take a clear message with their name, number and what they need. You may tell callers [what they may know, e.g. that I usually call back the same day]. Never agree to anything, share my address, give out codes or account details, or make payments. If it sounds urgent, like [family, school, a doctor], text me right away. After each call, send me a two-line summary.

Setup
- Get access to an agent app that can have its own phone number. Cue by Manus does this (invite code required); the number is a separate subscription and is only offered in some countries.
- Create one agent just for calls and give it a short job description: who you are, who usually calls, what it may and may not say.
- Turn on call forwarding on your phone to the agent's number. Start with "forward when busy or unanswered" so you can still pick up yourself.
- Call it from a friend's phone a few times to hear how it sounds, then read the first week of summaries closely.
- List the callers who should reach you straight away, like school, a carer or the doctor, and keep them on your own line.

Watch out
- Tell callers they're talking to an AI and that the call is recorded, and check the call-recording rules where you live; some places need everyone's consent.
- Speech recognition can mishear names, numbers and addresses. Ask the caller to repeat anything important, and double-check it before you act.
- Don't let it read out one-time codes or answer security questions. A phone number your agent controls is also a way into your accounts.
- Reviewers found the US number handled calls but not texts at first, and payment features looked US-only, so check what works in your country first.
What this costs to run
In a chat app it runs inside your plan. If you run it as a bot on an AI API, the bill depends on how often it runs and how much it reads.
Estimate it in the cost calculator →
Tip: Use a small AI model for simple jobs, a big one for hard ones. More in Run your bots for less and how much an AI agent costs.
